The Hotel

Cobergher is unlike most hotels.

Centred around a protected heritage house and gradually expanded with five adjoining historic buildings, the hotel is the result of a restoration project that took more than ten years to complete.

What emerged is far more than a single building.

Corridors lead to unexpected salons, staircases reveal hidden corners and passageways connect spaces that seem to belong to another era.
The layout invites curiosity, rewarding guests who take the time to wander beyond their suite.

The result feels less like a hotel and more like a private world waiting
to be discovered.

Designed by decorator Pieter Porters in collaboration with the interior architects
of Dejaegere, the interiors balance grandeur with warmth.
Marble columns, crystal chandeliers, dark wood panelling, curated antiques and layered textiles create spaces that feel refined without ever becoming formal.

Despite its scale, Cobergher remains remarkably welcoming.

It offers something increasingly rare: the experience of arriving somewhere exceptional while being immediately at home.

The Rooms

Accommodation is made up entirely of individually
designed suites.

Layouts, proportions and architectural details vary throughout
the hotel, shaped by the character of the original buildings.
Some suites feel intimate, while others unfold with the scale and presence of a private apartment.

Freestanding bathtubs, carefully selected furnishings and bespoke details appear throughout, yet no two suites feel exactly alike.

Natural light softens the more formal elements of the interiors, creating spaces that feel lived in rather than staged.

The experience is defined less by consistency and
more by individuality.

Dining

Dining at Cobergher extends well beyond the traditional hotel restaurant.

Breakfast is served beneath the glass roof of the orangerie, one of the most distinctive spaces within the hotel. Throughout the day, guests move naturally between the different salons and lounges, each contributing its own atmosphere
to the experience.

Afternoon tea introduces a slower rhythm to the day, encouraging guests to linger
a little longer. Later, Bar Mémoire becomes a natural gathering place,
offering a setting that feels closer to a private salon than a hotel bar.

The transition between these spaces feels seamless.
Dining is not separated from the hotel experience; it is woven into it.

Every room contributes to the story of the property, making the setting as memorable as the experience itself.

Wellness

The wellness facilities continue the sense of privacy found throughout the hotel.

Rather than a large public spa, Cobergher offers a private wellness experience designed around tranquillity, discretion and comfort. The atmosphere is calm and secluded, allowing guests to completely disconnect from the pace of daily life.

Like the rest of the hotel, the focus is not on scale but on thoughtful attention to detail.

Location

Cobergher sits in the historic centre of Kortrijk, within walking distance of the city's principal landmarks, boutiques and restaurants.

Yet once inside, the city quickly fades into the background.

The hotel creates an atmosphere entirely its own, allowing guests to remain connected to Kortrijk while feeling pleasantly removed from its pace.

Why we selected it

We selected Cobergher because of how it made us feel.

The luxury, craftsmanship and level of refinement are impossible to ignore.
Yet what stayed with us most was that beyond the grandeur of the hotel, it created a feeling that is far more difficult to achieve.

More than anything, it was the feeling of belonging.

What surprised us most was how quickly Cobergher began to feel familiar.

A hotel of this scale could easily feel formal or intimidating. Instead, it felt welcoming from the moment we arrived.

Part of that comes from the people. Conversations felt natural, attention felt genuine and hospitality never felt scripted.

The longer we stayed, the more familiar the hotel became. Not because it lost its sense of occasion, but because it made us feel at home.

What sets Cobergher apart is that it feels like a destination in its own right.
Between the restaurant, the private wellness facilities, the intimate gathering spaces and the atmosphere that runs throughout the property, there is little reason to leave. The city beyond has plenty to offer. The hotel simply makes you want
to stay.

Very few hotels manage to feel this personal while operating at this level.

Cobergher does.

For us, luxury is not about excess. It is about how a place makes you feel. And long after checkout, that feeling is what remained.

That is why Cobergher earned its place on The Concierge List.
